Caring for Your Plants at Home – Ways to Make Sure Your Indoor Plants are Healthy

A Guide to House Plants – How to Help Your Plants Grow and Thrive

Plants, including flowering, foliage, or cacti, can be used as decors for your living room, dining room, bedroom, and other parts of the house. They come in different colors, shapes, and sizes, so you can choose according to your theme and preferences. And, in order for them to grow and remain healthy for a long time, you have to take good care of them. Here are some tips on how you can do that:

Find a suitable place for them.

There are several different options on where you can put indoor plants inside your home. You can place them in the corners of rooms, by the main door, on the window sills, or on a coffee table. Just make sure that these areas have access to sunlight, are clean, and do not experience heavy traffic and disturbances for long periods of time.

Make sure they get enough light.

Plants need sunlight so that they can undergo photosynthesis. They have to receive enough of it so that they can grow healthily. During the day, make sure to open your windows to allow natural light in for your indoor plants. You can also setup some fluorescent lights around those that do not have access to direct sunlight.

Water them regularly.

Plants also need water to survive. However, the amount of water that each type of plant needs depends on various factors. The best way to go about this is to touch the soil in their pots first. If it is wet, then there is no need to water them yet. Otherwise, go ahead and pour slowly so as not to overwater. Do the soil check every day to determine if it is time to water them.

Adjust the warmth and humidity.

Different types of plants require different levels of warmth and humidity. For example, if you have indoor tropical plants, you need to provide an environment for them that has a higher humidity as compared to the conditions suited for non-tropical plants. You can look into getting a room humidifier to be able to adjust the levels as necessary.

Try not to move them around a lot.

People are often reminded to regularly exercise to stay in good shape. Some end up going to the gym. Others start a 30-minute daily walk routine. Those who are into biking get themselves mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, or go the foldable route in order to get into the habit of daily cycling. But, plants are not like that. Plants do not need movements to grow and thrive. They should not be moved around a lot as they require some time to fully acclimate to their surroundings.
